Qualifications
- Master's Degree in Education Administration or equivalent.
- Three years successful experience teaching in a traditional K-12 setting.
- A minimum of three years experience Internet-based education, curriculum development and/or teacher supervision.
- Training and successful experience in supervision, grant writing, facilitating system's change and school consultation.
- Demonstrated ability to conceptualize issues and communicate them both orally and in writing.
- Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the ESD Board may find
appropriate and acceptable.

Job Goal:
Plans, directs, and administers the operation of COOLSchool, an online high school program, within State and ESD guidelines. Responsibilities include staffing, instructional leadership, parent and community relations and advocacy, fiscal management, and infrastructure management for the virtual school operation.
Performance Responsibilities:
Essential Functions:
- Direct and supervise all staff within the school
- Select, orient, and evaluate personnel through individual conferences, goal setting sessions, and observation.
- Establish and support a philosophy for COOLSchool that emphasizes individual responsibility and a challenging and rewarding educational environment.
- Develop and maintain a climate for the most effective delivery of education to students against the constraints of evolving distance education technology.
- Cause rigorous evaluation of all candidate courses offered to COOLSchool.
- Create continuing training opportunities for staff, particularly in the areas of content, technology, and pedagogy design.
- Develop and manage the school's budget to ensure maximum program support.
- Monitor expenditures to ensure the most cost-effective educational processes.
- Develop long- and short-range infrastructure plans to provide a powerful and effective virtual learning environment for students and staff.
- Maintain active and open communications with parents, patrons, media and community to support the concept of distance learning.
- Be aware of ESD-wide concerns and participate as appropriate in the development of policies and procedures affecting the provision of online educational services.
- Develop, acquire, and implement special programs using non-District funds.
- Demonstrate an understanding of effective educational practices and provide staff information from current research regarding instructional methods and school reform.
- Disseminate, by means of presentations and publications, the key concepts of distance learning to the community
Other Functions:
- Responsible for asset management and protection of building equipment and supplies in the high school.
- Responsible for development of long-range plans to address high school priorities, program improvements and changing state requirements.
Working Conditions
- Ability to use a computer for extended periods of time.
- Must be able to sit or stand for prolonged periods.
- Must provide own transportation and be capable of traveling to constituent districts during the workday.
Terms of Employment
12-month contract year. Salary and benefits to be established annually by the ESD Board.
