Background Information
Science is a way of looking at the world. Scientists have questions,
they think of ways to find answers, and then they interpret their
results. The process of science is not difficult, but it does require
a certain set of skills. These skills, once learned, can be applied
to many aspects of daily life and are therefore worth developing.
In this unit, you will be learning and practicing
some of the skills required to conduct good science. You can do
these activities at any time and in any order. In the rest of the
course, there are places where it is suggested that you try one
of these assignments in order to practice before doing a bigger
assignment. You should be sure to work through all these activities
before attempting to do your Inquiry Project.
