your grades
The Magistra will grade each assignment. Points for each assignment
can vary, but grades will be expressed in a percentage, 100/100, 52/60,
16/16, depending upon the value of the individual assignment and how
well the student did.
The student
should keep track of all grades from assignments by setting up a file
and saving all graded assignments in that file. The Magistra does
the same in Eudora, for instance, for each Latin student. Students
can also keep a running total of their own grades to see how well
they are doing in the course.
The Final
Grade in Latin I is based upon the overall accumulated percentage
of all assignments in the course. The Magistra will use the following
scale to assign Final Grades:
| A |
90-100% |
| B |
80-89% |
| C |
70-79% |
| D |
not
given |
| F |
course
unfinished after ten months |
The Magistra
reserves the right to ask students to redo all assignments that are
below 70%. Students also may redo all assignments below 90%, except
Midterms and Finals. Midterm and/or Final percentages that are two
(2) grades below the accumulated percentage grade will lower the Final
Grade one full grade. For example, a "C" grade on the Semester
Final will lower the Final Grade for the semester to a "B."
If students
are unhappy with a grade on any assignment, except Midterms and Finals,
they may propose an alternative assignment to replace that assignment
and its grade. If students do not wish to complete a proposed Internet
assignment, they may propose an alternative assignment, agreeable
to both the Magistra and the student.
The Magistra
will transmit interim grades if asked for, but normally does not post
on the web a record of a student's progress. It is up to the student
to keep a running total of his or her grades on assignments. If there
are further questions on grading for COOLSchool, please contact the
Magistra.
