    Internet Assignment

    1. Find a picture of the "Abduction of Europa by Zeus" by a Venetian painter and send me enough information so I can find it. Tell me who the painter was, when he lived, and name one other painting he made on a mythological subject that you found.

Note: the title of the painting may not be exact.

The key hint is where the painter lived. Check Gardner's Art Through the Ages for a start and look under "Sixteenth-Century Italian Art: the High ....". If that doesn't work, then go to the Tigertail Virtual Museum.

    2. Find another painting of the Abduction of Europa by someone else. Tell me who the painter was, when and where he lived, and name one other painting he made that you found on a mythological subject. Try the Mythology in Western Art or sources listed there if this source is closed. Search on your own, use another source listed on this page, or even do research in a library book. Please tell me what your source was, written properly after you use "Noodlebib" at the Noodle Tools site.

    3. You have been introduced to and will continue to study the gods, goddesses, and important people of Latin culture through this course. It is time for you to become a character of Latin culture.

Persona Assignment: Select, research and write an essay on a Persona (character).

Directions: After some brief research in the library and on the Internet, chose a person, real or imaginary, in Roman or Greek history, stories, or mythology, to be your "persona" for this Latin course (see the list below). Look up that person in various reference books and on the Internet, and take notes, including what reference books you have used so far.

In your essay you should describe:

      • Who your Persona is,
      • Description (Note dress, behavior, stories the person had appeared in, actions, history, characteristics),
      • Tell at least one detailed story in which he or she is an important character, and
      • Describe how the persona might look and what costume they might wear.
      • Also send me a List of Works Cited (otherwise known as a Bibliography) of your sources for the Persona assignment. See the List of Works Cited page or Noodle Tools on how to do this.

      Choose your Persona carefully.
