How to Upload an Assignment in UCompass Educator

Most of the assignments include sending finished drawings to the teacher for review, grading, and credit. The simplest way to accomplish this is to "upload" the file using the Assignment link in the lesson.

When you click on an assignment link, you receive a pop-up inviting you to log in with your username and password. This takes you to the exact right place to the upload the file, and identifies the assignment with you when you click the Submit button. Your teacher will always know who sent the file.

Before uploading a file, make sure that the file is properly named. For example, if your name is Joe Student and you are submitting your first drawing for Lesson 3, the file name would be L03joes01.jpg. Of course, you're not Joe Student, so use YOUR firstname and last initial instead of "joes." It is critical to include the file extension (.jpg). Without the extension, it won't work!!

  3. In the assignment window, click Browse to find files on your computer.
  4. Leave comments if you would like.
  5. Mark the "submit for grading" box and click Submit.

So, to upload a file, simply:

1) Click the assignment link in the lesson ( "Submit your work here").
2) Log in to Ucompass Educator. This takes you to the assignment window.
3a)  In the assignment window, scroll down to Optional File Upload and click Browse:
upload file - Browse
(Files you've already uploaded are listed here for easy reference, as shown above.)

3b) Navigate to the file on your computer that you want to "hand in," and click Open:
Select a file to upload

4) When the correct file shows in the Browse field . . .
upload file selected

scroll down to Student Comments. Enter any comments you like. If you forgot to label your drawings, you can do so here. If you sent your work by snail mail, please enter a note telling me when you mailed it.
Enter comment and then Submit

5) Check the Submit for Grading box, as shown above, and then click Submit.
You will see a brief thank-you message:
Submitted. Thank You.

The way that you'll know you succeeded is that you'll see the assignment list
showing the number of submissions you've made:
upload another file

6) To upload another file, click the Assignment title (e.g., "Lesson 3, Gesture Line," above) and repeat steps 3 through 5.

That's it! I (your teacher) will receive an e-mail notification that you've submitted the assignment, and Educator makes it easy for me to download it, look it over, and give you a grade and comments, which you in turn receive by e-mail and see on your gradesheet.
